Bob contacted Rebuilding Together Fox Valley because of a citation received from the city of Oshkosh. He was facing a large fine as a result of curb appeal. In addition to needing the
home repainted, Bob’s toilet had not worked in 9 years, the home had a substantial amount of clutter, and the carpet was worn and musty. Bob, who has special needs, has extremely low income at less than 30% of the County Median Income. As a result, he could not afford the needed repairs to his home.
RTFV partnered with our friends at WOW Logistics, who provided over 20 volunteers to help Bob. In a single day, the volunteers cleaned Bob’s gutters, repainted his home, installed a working toilet, declutter Bob’s entire home, installed new flooring, and deep cleaned Bob’s home. His home no longer a fire or fall hazard. In addition, the air quality was improved, due to the new flooring installed and the deep cleaning. In partnership with
WOW Logistics, Bob is able to live safe and healthy in his home.
Don, a 90-year-old Korean War Veteran, is suffering from the effects of Agent
Orange. He lives alone after losing his wife and one of his daughters to the effects of the gas.
Don learned of Rebuilding Together Fox Valley through his daughter. Upon completion and submitting of an application, RTFV completed and assessment, identified funds, and recruited volunteers to repair Don's home.
Soffits were repaired to prevent rodents from getting into the roof, plumbing was repaired, a toilet was fixed, clutter was removed, several rooms were reorganized to prevent trip hazards and allow Don to use his walker in his home, the home was repainted, electrical issues were addressed, windows were caulked, and brush was removed to prevent pest infestation.
Thanks to the 42 volunteers from Fox Communities Credit Union, Don’s home was revitalized to be safe and healthy.

Because of the volunteers at US Venture, who have supported Rebuilding Together Fox Valley for the past 18 years, Ray is able to age in place.
