[Re]build Saturday

Have you ever changed a life before lunch? If not, now is your opportunity!

Rebuilding Together Fox Valley provides critical home modifications and repairs for low-income neighbors in need from Outagamie, Calumet, Winnebago, and Waupaca Counties, at no cost to them. Our largest impact event is National Rebuilding Day, where we partner with businesses and their respective volunteer groups to address the needs of numerous homeowners in a single day.
But our work does not stop there! Rebuilding Together Fox Valley serves homeowners year-round. I am pleased to announce the launch of [Re]build Saturdays. On the Second Saturday of each month, we will meet to address the needs of one or several homeowners in need.

Volunteers will meet at 8:00AM, at a predetermined location, and work until 12:00 pm, completing as many home modifications and repairs as possible in the timeframe allocated. We will provide all of the tools, materials, as well as an onsite House Captain, to provide leadership/direction, to complete the project successfully.

Review the Q&A below as it may address some of your questions:

  • What kind of project(s) will I be doing?

    • A sampling of projects includes grab bar installation, handrails, nightlights, non-skid treads, raised toilet seats, trip/fall reduction, step/porch repairs, floor installation, light electrical, etc.

  • Why are these repairs necessary?

    • Every 11 seconds an older adult (65+) is treated in an emergency room for a fall.

    • Every 19 minutes, an older adult dies from a fall.

    • The nation spends $50 billion a year on treating older adults for the effects of falls.

    • 83% of older adults want to age in place.

    • 23%+ of the population will be 65+ by 2030 due to the “Baby Boomers” retiring.

  • Who can volunteer?

    • Anyone with a passion to serve others and a willingness to share or learn home repair skills. Bring your family or group of coworkers out for the morning.

  • How will you keep me and the homeowner safe?

    • So long as Covid-19 is around, we ask that you social distance and wear a mask covering while inside the home. We will provide masks and hand sanitizer to ensure everyone’s safety. The homeowner will be gone and/or isolated to a portion of the home that is not being repaired. We will sanitize the repair area(s) prior to our departure using spray bottles. • What does RTFV provide for the day?

    • We will provide the tools, materials, leadership, continental breakfast, and t-shirt.

  • Do I need to be skilled in order to assist?

    • No skills are required only a willingness to learn. If you have home repair skills, be sure to let us know so that we can maximize making the home safe and healthy for the homeowner.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

    • All you need to bring is your energy and a positive attitude. We recommend work clothes (you will get dirty), gloves, and closed toed shoes.
