Ray's Story

Ray, a widower, who served his country, reached out to Rebuilding Together Fox Valley for assistance.

Unable to climb over the edge of his bathtub, in order to bathe, had been using wet wipes for personal hygiene. Following a home assessment, Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, identified a number of other health and safety needs in Ray’s home.

 

Volunteers at US Venture stepped forward to make the necessary repairs to Ray’s home. In addition to replacing Ray’s bathtub with a walk-in unit, US Venture repaired Ray’s stair lift system, added 2 hand rails, repaired 2 screen doors, cleaned gutters, repaired window sills, replaced 9 windows, upgraded electrical outlets to GFCI, replaced a bathroom exhaust fan, added lighting throughout the home, repaired a drain, replaced a sump pump, replaced the front stairs, added anti-slip strips, trimmed trees, graded landscaping to drain around the home, replaced a smoke detector, added a CO detector & fire extinguisher, as well as a number of other minor repairs.

 

Because of the volunteers at US Venture, who have supported Rebuilding Together Fox Valley for the past 18 years, Ray is able to age in place.
